Product Information This is a simulation game in which you take the role of a helicopter pilot in a major metropolitan area. Your job is to respond to various dispatches throughout the city and complete a certain dollar value worth of missions in order to advance.
Missions include responding to fires, medical emergencies, and police emergencies, as well as more mundane tasks such as picking up and dropping off VIPs. Money is awarded depending on the difficulty of the individual missions and once a certain dollar amount has been earned, you'll move onto a new, more challenging city. You can use some of the money you earn to buy 'better' helicopters and additional equipment, such as the rescue ladder and water cannon you'll need to complete certain missions. A total of nine helicopters are available, including a secret copter for cities which include military bases.

Great Classic Helicopter Sim I was a big fan of SimCopter when it was first released, and although some aspects of the game are very simplistic and sometimes buggy, it is still a pleasure to relive the past (windows 95 era) with this game. I find that this time around, a joystick makes complicated landings a lot easier, and although I couldn't fully utilize my joystick capabilities, flying was almost effortless. I can even auto-rotate after running out of fuel, which is very tough to accomplish with keyboard controls, as this crude flight sim isn't the most realistic.
Instead it is more arcade-like in nature, which makes it a great flashback game to play over ten years later. At times, the game crashes for unexplained reasons (it's old school) and people get stuck in buildings from time to time. At least it allows the user to save before crashing, and it loads back up quickly. Excellent game - Issues on fast multicore computers This game is fantastic, however there were some horrible coding practices used while making it. There are some places where timing is done by processor speed and not walltime, which makes the game crash if you are playing it on a fast computer.

Make sure you get the program CPUgrab. This program runs and just uses CPU time so that SimCopter runs slower (crazy that it is required) and won't crash.
Running SimCopter on a multi-core machine is difficult because of the load sharing between processors. I personally run it in a virtual machine with only one processor and then use CPU grab.

It's an old enough game that this doesn't even slow down my multi-core machine. I highly recommend this product (and CPUgrab and Virtualbox for virtual machine emulation).
